Evangelina “Eva” Jianu was a caring, God-fearing, and much loved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. After battling complications from leukemia, she went home to be with our Lord on August 4, 2023, at age 63.
Eva was born to Alfonso and Olga Serrano on October 21st, 1959 in Juarez, Mexico. During childhood she and her five siblings Alfonso, Beatriz, Maria, Raymond, and Olga moved with their parents to Los Angeles, CA. Alfonso Sr. allowed his children to choose which church they wanted to attend. In doing so he introduced young Eva to a God that she could from then on identify and call on in times of trouble.
At the age of 20 Eva gave birth to her first blessing, Robert Serrano. As a young mother she decided to obtain her cosmetology license and discovered her love of hair dressing, frequently practicing on close friends and family. She later transitioned to a career in the mortgage loan business where her smarts, hard work, and friendly nature were always on full display. At the age of 27 Eva met her husband Vasile Jianu, whose two left feet took her breath away. Together they shared 36 years of marriage and had four children: Samantha, Julia, John, and Alexandria.
Eva cherished spending time with her loved ones and always thought of others more than herself. Her infectious sense of humor as well as love of singing and bringing out the best in others made her the life of the party at family gatherings. Her faith was of the utmost importance and she shared the love of Christ she had received as a child with all those around her.
Her light, strength, and heart of gold will surely be missed, but someday we will see her again in God’s glory. She assured us that her love for us will go on, and ours for her does, as well.
A funeral service will be held at 8am on August 26th, 2023 at Water of Life Community Church in Fontana. We look forward to celebrating Eva’s life and sharing in our love for her with you.
